Episcopal Ordination of Mons. Iyad Twal in Jordan

On Friday (28.02), the Church of the Baptism of Christ (Al-Maghtas) in Jordan witnessed a historic and joyous occasion as Monsignor Iyad Twal was ordained as the new Patriarchal Vicar. The solemn ceremony was presided over by His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.

The ordination was attended by a distinguished gathering of bishops, priests, religious sisters, and faithful from various churches and orders. Among the notable attendees was Fr. Piotr, the Vicar for Hebrew Speaking Catholics in Israel, who joined in the celebration and offered his support.

In his homily, Cardinal Pizzaballa emphasized the spiritual and pastoral responsibilities of the episcopal ministry. He reminded the new bishop of his duty to bring comfort and hope to the people of Jordan, saying, “You ought to bring the good news to the poor… and pour oil and balm on the wounds of the hearts and minds of all those who are suffering.”

Monsignor Iyad Twal, filled with gratitude and humility, expressed his commitment to his new role. “I am deeply honored and humbled by this calling. I pledge to serve the Church and the people of Jordan with dedication and love,” he stated.

The entire community extends its heartfelt prayers and best wishes to Bishop Iyad Twal as he embarks on this new journey of faith and service. May his ministry be blessed and fruitful.
