St. James BBQ Street
Each year, on 29 June, the Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Apostles Saints Peter and Paul. This feast holds particular significance, not only because it honors the principal Patron Saints of the Church of Rome, but also because it commemorates Saint Peter - the first of the Apostles and the rock upon which Christ built His Church - whose mission continues in a special way in the ministry of the Pope, his successor.
Saturday Mass in Tel Aviv was the celebration of joy after the ceasefire was reached. Two long weeks of bombing left a mark especially on children. Sharing the experience of the time in shelters and clos explosions showed the unity in prayer for peace.
In his homily, fr. Piotr underlined this unity under the umbrella of the Universal Church. The parents prepared a nice picnic lunch and the signboard with the official name of the street as: St. James BBQ Street was placed at a fence where usually the barbeque stand.
This joke was to underline the joy that the participants: children and their families share during the feasts and common picnics after the Mass.
The weekly Eucharist will continue during the summer, and the Catechism classes will start in September.
