A Spiritual Journey - From Beer Sheva to Haifa
For two weeks, Fr. Roman kept an eye on the weather forecast, wondering if the trip should go ahead. Predictions shifted daily - rain, sun, rain again. In the end, we decided: the pilgrimage will happen!
First Stop: Muchraka
Our first destination was the Church of Elijah the Prophet at Muchraka. The skies offered a mix of sun and clouds, but no rain. We climbed to the monastery roof and admired the breathtaking view. Later, we gathered in the chapel for a joyful Mass of thanksgiving.
In his homily, Fr. Roman spoke about the call to repentance, confession, and walking with God. He shared his experience of prayer and adoration in Rome, comparing it to moments of grace on Mount Tabor and Muchraka. True faith, he reminded us, is not only about speaking - it requires prayer, words, and actions that bring others closer to God. The first step? Confession, just as Elijah confessed his weakness near Beer Sheva. Renewal prepares the way for the Lord.
Second Stop: Haifa – Fellowship and Joy
From Muchraka, we continued to Haifa, pausing at the Baháí Gardens viewpoint before arriving at the community center. The weather was kind to us! We enjoyed a hearty lunch in the garden.
Afterward, the group split:
Some explored the festive streets, took photos, and did Christmas shopping.
Others, including Fr. Roman, remained in the chapel for silent adoration.
Homeward Bound
At 4:00 PM, we gathered at the bus. Just as the last passengers boarded, raindrops began to fall - soon turning into a heavy downpour. Grateful for a safe and blessed day, we prayed for a smooth journey home.
It was a truly successful and grace-filled day - one that strengthened our faith and deepened our sense of community.
