Jubilee of Synodal Teams
A Global Synodal Journey
Since 2021, the Church has been engaged in the “Synod on Synodality” – a journey of listening, communion, and co-responsibility. Each local church has contributed reflections and summaries, including our Vicariate, which submitted its input through the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
Meeting Pope Leo XIV
The gathering began with a special audience with Pope Leo XIV. Representatives from each continent shared their experiences, challenges, and hopes. The Pope emphasized that synodality is not a fixed model but a way of life - a process of conversion through listening to the Holy Spirit, to God’s Word, and to one another. He encouraged formation, openness, and unity, reminding us that synodality strengthens the Church’s mission to proclaim the Gospel and respond to the cries of the poor, the suffering, and the Earth.
Pilgrimage and Spiritual Conversation
On the second day, participants entered St. Peter’s Basilica through the Holy Door, marking the Jubilee pilgrimage. In small groups, we practiced “conversation in the Spirit” – sharing, silence, and prayerful listening. Seminars explored key themes, and it was moving to witness the shared commitment to a synodal Church.
Mass with the Pope
The Jubilee concluded with Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica. In his homily, Pope Leo XIV called for a humble Church - one that walks together, serves humanity, and listens deeply. He invited us to dream of a Church that welcomes all, remains open to God, and serves the world with love and humility.
Returning with Hope
We returned home filled with gratitude for this profound experience and renewed hope for the Church’s journey. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide us as we walk together in faith.
