Youth Camp 2025 at Deir Rafat

From July 14–17, 2025, 44 young people and leaders gathered at the Monastery of Deir Rafat for Chosen for Life, 4 meaningful days filled with friendship, creativity, faith, and unforgettable moments. For many, it was their very first camp experience.

In the midst of the challenges of conflict and war, the Chosen for Life Youth Camp 2025 became a space of deep joy, community, and faith.

For four days, 44 young people and guides came together at the peaceful Monastery of Deir Rafat to explore the story of Joseph, his dreams, his struggles, his emotions, and to discover how God calls each of us today: You are chosen. You are loved.

The program, carefully prepared by Danielle and Monika, offered an inspiring mix of sports, creative workshops, games, and prayer times. Fr Igino, the chaplain of the camp, accompanied us with warmth and care, leading the morning and evening prayers, celebrating the first day’s Mass, and joining one of the small groups, just like Fr Roman.

In small groups led by the dedicated youth ministry team, Ezraela, Reigne, Raven, Prince, and Adam, the participants found a sense of belonging, trust, and friendship.

Although the heat was scorching, the spirit of the camp was full of energy and joy. Fr Michał was present everywhere: leading the morning sports, setting up the swimming pools with Fr Apo, assisting in the kitchen. Raba, our amazing Masterchef, kept everyone well-fed and happy, with Esteban offering help behind the scenes.

A particularly touching moment was Tuesday evening, when Fr Benny led us through a time of adoration, worship, confession, and personal conversations. Hearts were moved, and it became a special moment of encounter with Jesus.

On Wednesday, the day at Waterworld felt like a breath of fresh air, a splash of laughter, lightness, and pure joy that lifted everyone’s hearts. In the evening, the sisters of the monastery joined us, sharing their life and joy. We are especially grateful to Sister Crux Maria, who looked after us with so much care.

The final day saw a joyful Holy Mass celebrated by Fr Piotr, the General Vicar, who invited us to lift our hearts to Jesus in thankfulness for these days together. Before saying farewell, each team member received a personal award as a thank-you for the love, time, and dedication they had given.

The journey of faith continues. With the youth of the St. James parishes invited to come together.

This time, they came from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Beersheva, and Haifa.

As we left Deir Rafat, we carried with us more than memories: we carried the experience of God’s presence and the deep truth that will stay with us: You are chosen by Him. You are loved. You belong.

Already, the next two camps are on the horizon: a young adults’ camp and a children’s camp, both to be held in the next weeks in the parish of the St. James Vicariate in Tiberias.
