Thanksgiving Mass for the Election of the New Pope

On Saturday (10.05.25) in St. Peter's Monastery in Jaffa, the Vicar of St. James celebrated Eucharist of thanksgiving for the election of the new Pope.

The election of Cardinal Robert Prevost as a new Pontiff filled our hearts with joy - said the Vicar at the beginning of the Mass.

The collect prayer in the Missal contains following words:

O God, who in your providential design

willed that your Church be built

upon blessed Peter, whom you set over the other Apostles,

look with favor, we pray, on Leo our Pope

and grant that he, whom you have made Peter’s successor,

may be for your people a visible source and foundation

of unity in faith and of communion.

In his homily fr. Piotr expressed his hope for the new Pope to be a good shepherd like Jesus whose example may be seen in today's Gospel for the Good Shepherd Sunday. May his missionary experience help him to understand the needs of the People of God - said fr. Piotr.

United in prayer we wish Pope Leo XIV all the Graces of God needed to guide the Church of Jesus.
