Celebrating the 77th Independence Day of Israel
One of the participants reports:
On the eve of the holiday, we stayed at Casa Nova in Tiberias and gathered in the evening for an open and pleasant discussion.
The next morning, after breakfast at the hostel, we visited the excavation site and the Franciscan monastery of Magdala. We learned a lot about the ancient city and its significance in the first century AD, and were impressed by the rare finds that testify to the lives of the people during that period. Special thanks to Fr. Timothy for his excellent hospitality and guidance.
From there, we continued to Tabgha and held the Lord's Supper around the rock where Jesus ate with his disciples after the resurrection. During Fr. Apollinari's sermon and prayer in honor of the holiday, we reflected on the complex and painful situation our country faces, drawing insights from the Gospel. Knowing that even after times of dissolution, the Lord shows us that He can resurrect, just as He Himself rose, restores our hope.
After the prayer, we headed to the nearby beach area and enjoyed a beautiful meal around the barbecue (yes, not far from where Jesus prepared fish and dined with His disciples!). Thanks to all the organizers, especially Katya and Yuri, who thought of everything needed and prepared in advance. Thanks also to Fr. Piotr, our Vicar, who came especially to honor us with his presence.
We ended the event with a refreshing and uplifting dip in the Sea of Galilee, and with this spirit, we returned to the center.
Special thanks to Fr. Apollinary, who organized, drove, and guided us during this successful trip. May God give you more strength and joy in spirit and body!
