NAZARETH, ISRAEL - 30 DECEMBER 2017 The sixth anniversary of anything is usually referred to as “candy anniversary” or “iron anniversary”: “candy” because it is tempered by something sweet to obviate hard or bitter experiences along the way;

On January 1st 2018, The Israeli Population and immigration Authority published a policy announcement offering asylum seekers from Sudan and Eritrea a choice between one of two options:  either departure or incarceration.

On August 29, 2017, Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, wrote a letter to the Coordination of the Pastoral Among Migrants team and to the migrant communities regarding the resignation of Father David.

The author of the poem is Warsan Shire, a Somali refugee, living in England. We print the poem during Holy week, a week to commemorate the Passion of Jesus, during which we pray for all those suffering until today, especially those who have to flee their homeland.
