Journey of Faith in Jaffa
The program began on Friday evening as participants arrived from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Beersheva. The ancient monastery overlooking the Mediterranean provided a beautiful setting for encounters, conversations, and shared prayer. On Friday evening, the group had the opportunity to meet a married couple whose personal testimony and life story led to a meaningful and inspiring conversation. Their openness and faith touched many of the young people and offered a living example of Christian commitment and hope.
Throughout the weekend, participants reflected on the life of Simon Peter, whose story is deeply connected to Jaffa. Through lessons, group discussions, and personal reflection, they explored Peter’s journey from fisherman to disciple, his willingness to trust Christ despite uncertainty. His example encouraged the participants to consider their own journey of faith.
Saturday began with morning prayer, gathering the group before the day’s activities. Afterwards, participants enjoyed time together walking through the historic harbor of Jaffa, discovering the beauty and rich history of one of the oldest port cities in the world. A special highlight of the weekend was a boat trip along the coast.
As always, shared meals, informal conversations, laughter, and moments of prayer strengthened the bonds between participants from different communities. The weekend provided not only opportunities to learn, but also to experience faith as a living journey walked together.
We are grateful to everyone who helped organize and accompany this special gathering, especially thank you to Fr. Apo, Yuri and Kati, and look forward to continuing our Journey of Faith in the months ahead. Through each encounter, we continue to discover a new Christ’s invitation: "Come and see."
