Jubilee of Young Adults Group 2025

Last weekend (16-17.05.25) the Desert Flower Young Adults Group celebrated its Jubilee. The weekend in Tiberias marked by very hot weather was the last meeting in this pastoral year. We present short report from the event.

Last weekend, about 15 members of the alumni group gathered for an emotional, deep, and strengthening meeting – not only the last meeting of the year but also part of the group's jubilee celebration. The event took place in a family-like and loving atmosphere, marked by Christian faith and life within the Hebrew-speaking Catholic community.

On Friday afternoon, we gathered at the Casa Nova hostel. After everyone arrived, we opened the weekend with a personal update meeting, where each person briefly shared what they had experienced over the past month – a time of listening, closeness, and mutual encouragement. Later in the evening, we enjoyed a barbecue dinner in a good atmosphere and shared time together.

We started Saturday with our usual morning routine – a shared breakfast and morning prayer, which gradually led us to the day's highlight: a trip to the Yardenit site. At this place, with deep spiritual significance, Fr. Piotr gave us a short lesson from the Catechism Compendium on the Sacrament of Baptism. The talk was profound, clear, and touching, leading to a particularly powerful moment: those who wished were asked to renew their commitment to living as Christians, with Fr. Piotr accompanying the moment with the words: "Live as a Christian." It was an emotional and significant moment of our Jubilee. We also received great gifts: coffee mugs with the logo of the Vicariate and the Jubilee Year, a stone with engraved the word: "Hope" on it, and a small card with the quotations from the Gospel.

After that, we continued to a nearby beach, where we enjoyed time to relax, talk, and laugh – a true refreshment for the soul and body, especially given the heavy heat that day.

After the beach outing, we returned to the lodging, and after a short rest and organization, we gathered again for a group activity – which was no less interesting and enriching. The activity's theme was Pope Francis. Fr. Piotr divided us into four groups, each receiving a different aspect related to the Pope's tenure and life. Each group had to research, create a colorful poster, and present their findings to the other participants. The chosen topics were:

Pope Francis and Christians in Israel

Pope Francis and social justice

Pope Francis and the environment protection

Pope Francis and the wars in Ukraine and Gaza

Pope Francis and Sports, Tango, etc.

It was an interesting and meaningful activity! We were able to go through Pope Francis's life and the significance of his tenure for each of us.

Towards the end of the meeting, we joined the Tiberias community for the Lord's Supper, conducted by Fr. Piotr. After the mass, we joined a particularly joyful celebration held in honor of Sinead, who celebrated her 50th birthday! We greatly enjoyed being part of this happy moment, and we send her our best wishes – happy birthday, Sinead! May you continue to be the wonderful person you are!

Throughout the weekend, love, listening, depth, and a shared spirit were felt – making the meeting a significant and unforgettable experience. We thank Fr. Piotr for the spiritual leadership and everyone who contributed to creating a weekend of faith, joy, and community.
