Farewell of Fr. David Neuhaus, SI

Fr. David Neuhaus, SI who for many years was the Vicar of St. James Vicariate for Hebrew Speaking Catholics and of the Vicariate for Migrants and Asylum Seekers leaves for his sabbatical year to South Africa. Wishing him all the best the kids of Tel Aviv prepared a nice farewell party.

On Saturday 15th January 2023, the children and youth ministry in Tel Aviv together with around 100 children and youth bid farewell to Fr. David Neuhaus who is leaving Israel for a sabbatical year in South Africa. With great gratitude and joy, we looked back to the many years that Fr. David formed and developed our community, established the catechism program in Hebrew, and accompanied our children and youth.

The hour before mass various age groups shared with Fr. David and with the other youth their experiences from the catechism years, holiday camps, and trips they made with Fr. David. Now, young adults, members of the first Hebrew catechism group, spoke about their life today and how the catechism years had impacted and formed them. Others spoke about their adult involvement as youth leaders in the youth groups and youth activities of the Vicariate and reached out to the younger ones to join actively.

During mass, we were giving THANKS to Fr. David and his mission in Israel and BLESSED him for his upcoming missions.

With a rich buffet organized by the parents, we closed a joyful day remembering the many stories we share.
