T: "The Lord accepts my prayer" (Psalm 6: 9)

T. from the Haifa community writes to us towards the end of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

unity_ttThe Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is drawing to a close, but our prayer  continues. We are praying to the Lord for wellbeing and peace not only for ourselves, but also for our brothers and sisters  in Christ. The important themes of reconciliation and unity are being rooted in our hearts.

In his Apostolic Letter "Orientale Lumen", Pope John Paul II wrote: "The Church of Christ is one. If divisions exist, that is one thing; they must be overcome, but the Church is one, the Church of Christ between East and West can only be one, one and united."

The Lord brought salvation and love for all humanity. But our world is still full of suffering, catastrophe, war and human tragedy. Everyone in his or her own heart addresses the Almighty, calling for help and believing in His mercy. "You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to the cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may strike terror no more" (Psalm 10: 17-18). Let us pray together!

Listen to the song: Shma Israel

Shma Yisrael
(When the heart cries)

When the heart cries only God hears
The pain rises from the soul
A man falls down before he sinks
He cuts the silence with a small prayer
Shma Israel, my God, you are the mighty one
You gave me my life you gave me everything
A tear in my eyes, the heart cries in silence
And when the heart is silent the soul cries out
Shma Israel, my God, I am all alone now
Make me strong, my God, so I will not be afraid
The pain is great and there is no where to run
Make it end, I don’t have any strength left
When the heart cries time stands still
A man sees his life passing in front of him
He doesn’t want to go to the unknown
He calls his God as he stands on the edge of the deep
