Evening of Shavuot in Jerusalem Kehilla

On Shavuot, the Jewish Feast of Pentecost, the Book of Ruth is read in the synagogues, the Word of God is studied through the night and milk products are eaten. In the Jerusalem kehilla, we did some of these things.

The movie, “The Story of Ruth” is a two hour long Hollywood production from the year 1962. It was a typical example of the so-called "biblical fiction movies". Despite its slightly kitschy character it was a perfect thing for an evening like this, presenting dramatically the wonderful personality of Ruth.
