A Lenten Retreat in Jerusalem

On Saturday, March 14th, about forty members of the Kehilla gathered at the Foyer Saint Josef in Jerusalem for their annual Lenten retreat.

The day began in a spirit of recollection with an opening prayer, setting the tone for a time of grace and reflection. Sr. Michaela Klodman then offered a thoughtful talk centered on the Gospel readings of the past three weeks of Lent, helping participants to enter more deeply into the journey toward Easter.

Following the talk, there was time for personal prayer and reflection, allowing each person to interiorize what they had heard and focus of one of the three Gospel texts. The community then shared a simple lunch, strengthening not only the body but also the bonds of fellowship. In the afternoon, the retreat continued with group discussions, where participants could share insights and experiences, deepening their understanding through dialogue.

The day reached its spiritual peak with Adoration and the celebration of Mass, moments of profound encounter with the Lord. However, the retreat was twice interrupted by the sound of sirens due to missile attacks, a stark reminder of the fragile context in which the community lives. Despite these disruptions, the participants remained steadfast.

In the end, all were grateful for the opportunity to come together, to pray, reflect, and support one another. The retreat became not only a time of spiritual renewal but also a quiet witness of faith and unity in the midst of uncertainty.
