Little Indians

Around forty children aged six to eight, with twenty youths and adults, lived together a summer camp in Deir Rafat

For five days, from July 15th to 19th, the Deir Rafat Monastery turned into an Indian camp where little children, youths and adults, we shared prayers, games and activities.

Day after day, the Great Indian Chief of the Tribe accompanied us along the path that allowed us to become "true warriors".

The Word of God led us to discover that it is normal to be afraid in our life, but that we are always protected by the presence of Jesus who sustains us. However, overcoming fear is not enough to face everyday life: we must learn to ask for the gift of wisdom that teaches us to discern good from evil; we must also learn to collaborate.

So, all together, we managed to build our "teepees", to fashion the headdresses with feathers, and even to hunt a large bison of the prairie.

Thanks to all the "little Indians" who participated, to the families who trusted this new experience and to all the educators and volunteers who gave their time and their experience. We wish everyone to continue growing, following the path shown to us every day by the Lord Jesus.
