Christmas/Hanukka camp at Deir Rafat

Three days of fun, activities and preparation to Christmas for the children of Saint James Vicariate and of the Migrant Communities.

From Tuesday 4th to Thursday 6th of December 2018, our kids attended the traditional winter camp. As Christians who live integrated into the Israeli Jewish society, we modulate our activities on the Jewish calendar and, taking advantage of the school holidays in the week of Hanukka, we organize every year a special camp (shorter than the summer camps), as a preparation to our Christian feast of Christmas. This time the camp was attended by about 50 children from our communities in Haifa, Beersheba, Jaffa, Tiberias and Jerusalem, plus our friends from the Lebanese community in the North of the Country. Beside the adult counselors, there was a significant presence of youth, from the Desert Flower’s group, 24 boys and girls who helped in the animation. The music and the chant were led by Br. Tiago NDS, and the kitchen was coordinated by Sr. Agnes who came especially from Paris, as usual, to volunteer in our camp. To them go our big, big thanks!

The day was organized following the regular schedule: morning work-out, prayer, breakfast, workshops (Religion class with Fr. Roman and Fr. Wojtek, Art with Sr. Eliam and Deacon Benny, Sport with Br. Daniel from Koinonia Giovanni Battista and Baldwin, Games with Danielle), Mass, Lunch, Rest, Free time, Workshops, Shower, Dinner, Film.

We were blessed with a nice weather that allowed for outdoor activities. Also the atmosphere among us was very nice, joyful and friendly. We thank God and all our benefactors for this great opportunity.deir rafat dec2018
