News from the Vicariate

On the weekend of March 28–29, 2025. A Weekend of Rest and Renewal was held in Tel Aviv Jaffa for the mothers of our youth from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

On Thursday (27.03), an event of Music and Poetry was held at the Church of Ascension in Augusta Victoria that is located at the Mount of Olives, Jerusalem.

The Vicariate invites everyone to a series of Zoom meetings during the liturgical period of Lent. The special time of preparation to the Feast of Easter starts soon. Every Monday of the Lent, a short meeting on Zoom at 8.30.pm will be an occasion to deepen the faith.

For the first time in history the faith of the Catholic Church is expressed in a concise form, in Hebrew language. We proudly present the Hebrew translation of the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

This season our lectures on Zoom were dedicated to the topic of Christian Hope. Based loosely on the catechesis of Pope Francis from 2016-2017 five priests were teaching every Monday. All those who wanted to learn something about Hope were invited to join. The lessons were recorded, and the entire series is now available on the official YouTube channel of the Vicariate.

Our Rosary Prayer on Zoom continues. Everyone is invited to join and pray for Peace.

Last weekend (31.01-01.02) was dedicated to the meeting of the families. Casa Nova in Tiberias hosted the group that came together to share common experiences of faith.

In the Jubilee Year the St. James Vicariate is visiting Rome. Responding to the invitation of Pope Francis we are going to celebrate 70 Years of the Hebrew Speaking Communities.

In a heartwarming act of solidarity and joy, our friends in Austria, led by Christine Maurer, organized a beautiful Christmas concert. The proceeds were dedicated to supporting the Youth and Children Ministry of the St. James Vicariate.

Our beloved sister, Antoinette, passed away on Tuesday (07.01). We believe that she who loved Jesus so much is now with him in the Kingdom of Heaven. May her soul be blessed.

On Friday (17-18.25) the Young Adult Group of the St. James Vicariate came together at the Notre Dame Jerusalem Centre. It was a chance to connect, get creative, and grow in faith in the heart of Jerusalem.

Fr. Piotr, the Vicar of St. James was invited to preach a yearly retreat for the priests of the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia. The retreat took place in Bahrein's capital Manama.

Christmas period is not over yet, but we would like to come back to the joyful celebrations in our communities. The priests responsible for the parishes would like to thank all who were actively preparing the decorations, food, music, liturgy, gifts and other numerous activities. It was indeed a Merry Christmas this year in St. James Vicariate.

The last Saturday before Christmas (21.12) more than 230 members of the Vicariate gathered in Nazareth for the Advent Retreat. Here is a short report from this event.

A CPR First Aid Training took place in St. Rachel Center on 19-10.11. The participants were the staff of the Vicariate for Migrants and Asylum Seekers, as well as St. James Vicariate staff.

St. James Vicariate together with Notre Dame Center organized an event called "Concert For Hope". It was a testimony of faith for all Jerusalem.

The last Feast of Communities (Yom HaKehilot) took place om 05.10 in Kiryat Yearim. Christian Media Center prepared a video material about this event. It was published in many languages on the webpage of CMC. We publish the links to all the versions.

The new Liturgical Calendar of St. James Vicariate for the pastoral year 2024-2025 is available in a digital version. It contains the main information about the liturgy for every day of the new pastoral year. The printed edition is available in the Communities.
