To pray for the Christians in Egypt – a massacre in Alexandria
On the eve of the first day of the new year, 21 people were murdered in Egypt when a car exploded next to a church in the city of Alexandria in Egypt.

At a time when Christians were gathered in the Church of All Sainmts in the Sedi Bishr neighborhood of Alexandria in order to pray for the new year, a booby trapped car exploded outside the church which brought about the deaths of 21 individuals, most of them from among the Christians who were frequenting the church. The church was badly damaged in the explosion. Among the wounded there are also many Christians but also Muslims. Damage was also caused to the adjacent mosque.
This event drove home even more what Pope Benedict XVI described in his Christmas Message concerning the persecutio0n of Christians in our world today.
We pray for our brothers and sisters in Egypt, may God console the mourners, heal the wounded and receive into His kingdom the dead.
