Back home!
After the spread of the pandemic, the staff who works with the bigger children expressed its worry about how these kids could keep living, studying and doing their homework, closed in very small homes and alone most of the day. From there, the idea came to offer help to some of them to spend the lock-down time together. On March 20th we entered into isolation without knowing for how long. The only thing we knew was that we shall all enter together and leave together. No one was allowed to go out except for Fr. Benny who was in charge of the shopping and the supplies. The children found in the center a warm and welcoming home. They received spacious rooms and benefited of a well-organized daily schedule: study and homework in the mornings and games and sports in the afternoons. All this under the guidance Sr. Claudia, responsible for those kids, and the staff of animators and volunteers.
When the situation improved and part of the restrictions started to be removed, we decided that the time was ready for them to go back to their families, and thus the date of May 8th was chosen for the end of this experience. On this same occasion our Archbishop Pierbattista expressed his desire to come to visit us, and so we were privileged to celebrate the conclusion Mass with him, accompanied by his secretary, Deacon Firas, and Fr. Ibrahim Shomali from the Latin Patriarchate, and of course our Vicar Fr. Rafic.
After the Mass and the breakfast all together, the kids went back home accompanied by car in order to continue their journey under the new regulations. We will keep following them and constituting for them an outstretched hand.
A very big thanks to the working staff, the educators and the volunteers for their precious and meaningful service, to the parents who trusted us and to all those who have supported us in a way or another.
