Hanukkah at Saint Rachel Center

On Thursday, December 14, 2017, the first day of the Hanukkah school holidays, about fifty children came to Saint Rachel Center in Jerusalem for a full day of activities.

Hanukkah activities at the center will continue until Sunday, December 17, after which the children will depart for a three-day Christmas-Hanukkah camp.

In the afternoon, Father David accompanied a group of seven of the oldest children to Jaffa Gate and the little delegation participated in the ceremony to welcome the new Apostolic Nuncio in Israel and Cyprus and Apostolic Delegate in Jerusalem and Palestine, Archbishop Girelli. The children were even more excited to perceive among the dignitaries receiving the Nuncio, our own Father Rafic, Latin Patriarchal Vicar.

After accompanying the Nuncio in the crowded procession to the Church of the Resurrection (Holy Sepulcher), the small delegation made its way to the French Hospital of Saint Louis to participate in the funeral mass for Anne-Marie Lepicard, mother of Etienne, faithful member of the kehillah, who passed away at the age of 105. The children had gotten to know Anne-Marie when she occasionally visited the kehillah with her son and grandchildren.
