Father Roman: Message for the Feast of the Resurrection

This year, as is his custom, Father Roman composed a message for Easter.

roman resurrection

In a sound of fine silence, You came to me, Lord
On Mount Horeb, on which You made your covenant with me and with the people of Israel, in which You gave us commandments written on tablets of stone, the Sinai covenant.
And You sent me to proclaim the Gospel to all creatures that there is one God, maker of heavens and earth and there is none aside from Him.

In a sound of fine silence, You came to me, Lord
In Jerusalem, in which the blood of Your Son was spilt out on the cross, you made Your covenant with me and with all humanity and in the resurrection You opened a way for us to eternal life.
And you send me to proclaim that there is one Messiah and only in his passion, death and resurrection, death has been vanquished.

In a sound of fine silence, You came to me, Lord
In Warsaw, in Paris, in Manila, in Haifa, in Cairo, in Rio de Janeiro, wherever you made Your covenant with me, and through the way of purification in the waters of baptism, you wiped away all my sins, bringing me from the way to the gates of death into your Kingdom.
And You send me to proclaim the Gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit, to proclaim that there is one body and one spirit, just as we have been called to one hope of our vocation.

In a sound of fine silence, You came to me, Lord
In Your Church, within which you renew Your covenant with me, strengthen my faith, encourage me, lift up my spirit and lead along the right way.
And You send me to proclaim, through my life, the victory over sin, death and evil, to wipe way the tears of those who cry, and to carry forth the joy of life and the joy of the resurrection to all creatures.
