On Saturday, April 1 at 10.00, a number of members of Jaffa kehilla, Jerusalem kehilla and from the youth group “Desert Flower” gathered for a retreat day in Saint Peter’s Church in Jaffa.

The day began, animated by Father Apolinary, who gave a talk on the Desert Fathers and what we might learn from their wisdom. After the talk, the participants went off to reflect on the meaning of faith in their lives.

After that, everyone gathered once again in the room that was turned into a refectory and after a prayer of thanksgiving, everyone sat down to enjoy the variety of delicacies that each one had brought. At the end of the meal there was a delicious cake prepared by one of the members of the Jaffa community who was celebrating his birthday.

At 13.45, everyone gathered once again for an hour of prayerful adoration in the church, led by Father Alberto, who also animated songs appropriate to adoration in an atmosphere of devotion and communion with the Lord.

The day ended with a power point presentation on the meaning of prayer in our lives, which was prepared by a member of the Jaffa community, and was accompanied by a dimming of lights and the lighting of candles by those present.

At the conclusion of the day, Father Apolinary wished the participants a safe return home in the hope that we can multiply this kind of meeting that helps to strengthen the relationship among the various communities. We thank the Lord for all the good he pours out on us and hope for more meetings of this kind.
