Over one hundred children from the Filipino, Indian and Eritrean community are participating the camp that begins each morning at 8.00 and runs until about 16.00. Most of the children are parishioners at the Center and they age from 5 to 11. A group of about 12 over 12 year olds are helping each day with the running of the camp.

The activities in the camp include daily morning prayer and mass, a catechism class on the figure of Mary, an art class, sport and theater. The children eat lunch together and then quiet time is facilitated by watching a movie. After that the children enjoy the swimming pools that have been set up in the courtyard.

This year the camp is being run by Patriarchal Vicar Father David, director of the center, Father Mako, responsible for the Haifa kehilla, Father Roman, seminarians Benedetto (from the Saint James Vicariate), Ryan (English seminarian) and Matthew (Salesian), Sister Sarah from Italy, Sisters Regina, Lerma and Chrishanti from the center, lay volunteers Daniele and Anna Maria from Italy, Ms. Lerma from the center and Ronny from the Vicariate community. The two workers at the center, Daniel and Joseph, are also fully engaged. Two youth from Desert Flower, Rusti and Kyle are also helping. Ms. Bhea is responsible for the logistics and she too has a team of helpers from the center’s parish community and from the youth group at the center.

This is always a blessed time to integrate the children more fully into the life of the Church. We are deeply grateful to Church in Need and Pontifical Mission for their generous aid in subsidizing this camp.
