Indians celebrate Assumption of Mary and Indian Independence


On Saturday, August 13, 2016, the Indian Catholics in Israel celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and Indian Independence Day. Father Tojy, the Indian chaplain reports:

The Indian Chaplaincy organized a Holy Mass in English and a Cultural Program to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and the 70th Independence Day of India on Saturday, August 13, 2016 in Tel Aviv’s Beit Dany. The main celebrant at the Holy Mass was Rev. Fr. Kevin Gonsalvez OFMCap and concelebrants included Fathers Tojy Jose (Indian chaplain), Micheal Grospe (director of Our Lady Woman of Valor Pastoral Center), Lionel OFM, Arturo OFM and Jose Kumar SCJ.

The main guest at the cultural program was the ambassador of India, H.E. Mr. Pavan Kapoor. In his address, he exhorted the people to keep up the great Indian heritage. Also he promised the people that the embassy would extend help whenever they need it.

About 800 people participated in the program. There was a fellowship meal after the cultural program.
