Nineteenth meeting of the CPAM


On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, members of the Coordination of the Pastoral Among Migrants met at the Latin Patriarchate in Jerusalem to discuss the Church’s work with the migrants and asylum seekers.

Present at the meeting were members of the Filipino, Sri Lankan, Maronite and Ge’ez rite chaplaincies, priests and sisters, the parish priests of Haifa, Jerusalem, Tiberias and Eilat, two representatives of the prison ministry team and those working with the Israeli NGOs and the Bedouin. The opening prayer was based on Pope Francis’s letter for the World Day of Migrants in January.

After a round of introduction and news, among the many topics discussed at the meeting, were the following:
- the planning for the World Migrant Day on January 16,
- the change in coordinator for the prison ministry,
- the opening of the Year of Mercy
- the renovations of the Saint Joseph Annex to the Our Lady Woman of Valor Center in Tel Aviv,
- the planning for the day of recollection for the CPAM on December 7, at the opening of the Year of Mercy,
- the planning for the celebration of Christmas in the various communities,
- how the tense situation in the country affects our faithful,
- the work with children and youth,
- the new collaboration with the Eritrean community in opening day care facilities for infants.

At the end of the meeting, the date of the next meeting was agreed upon.
