Vatican announces Accords with Palestine


After a new round of negotiations between the Holy See and Palestine, it was announced that the accords have been finalized and now await ratification by the respective authorities.

pope presidentsThe Final Accords that regulate the life of the Catholic Church in Palestine have been agreed upon by two negotiating teams from the Holy See and Palestine it was announced on May 13, 2015. Basic Accords were signed in 2000 and since then the two teams have been meeting regularly to formulate the Comprehensive Agreement. The Holy See recognized the State of Palestine after the vote in the United Nations in 2012.

The Holy See is engaged in a parallel process with the State of Israel. The discussions continue towards Final Accords that are yet to be signed.
