Parish priest of Gaza meets Pope Francis
On Friday, August 29, 2014, Father George Hernandez, Latin parish priest of Gaza, met with Pope Francis in the Vatican.
Father George Hernandez, a priest from Argentina who belongs to the Congregation of the Incarnate Word, met with the Holy Father for about 45 minutes. During his meeting he explained to the Pope what the parish had lived through during the fifty days of war and bombardment. He also described how the parish and school had become a refuge for many families, mostly Muslim, who had fled their homes.
The Pope expressed his deep proximity to all in Gaza and throughout the region who were suffering because of the violence.
