Feast of Saint Leo the Great – November 10

We know little about his life but we do have his sermons that had a great influence on the Church. Saint Leo was able to stop Attila the Hun from invading Rome. He also presided at the Council of Chalcedon. Pope Leo had a great influence on the development of the Latin liturgy.

On this feast, the breviary proposes a meditation on Sermon 4, in which Saint Leo writes: "In baptism, the sign of the cross makes kings of all who are reborn in Christ, and the anointing of the Holy Spirit consecrates them priests".
