Hillel Seidel: On Brother Daniel
Hillel Seidel, a childhood friend of Osvald Rufeisen, dedicated an important part of his book, Adam BeMivhan (A man tested), to a detailed account of the life of Rufeisen. The book can now be read on line.
Hillel Seidel was a Polish Jew who immigrated to Israel after the Shoah and later served as a member of Knesset. His 1971 book retold the fascinating story of his friend Osvald Rufeisen who later became Carmelite Brother Daniel and was a founder of the kehilla in Haifa.
The story of Brother Daniel makes up the second part of the book.
