The Price of Prime Minister Golda Meir granted to Br Yohanan Elihai

Br Yohanan Elihai awarded for his contribution to bringing people together through teaching of the spoken Arabic Palestinian language

On May 1, 2018, for the 120th anniversary of Golda Meir's birth, a seminar was held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a ceremony for awarding the prize of the Prime Minister Golda Meir. This year, the prize was granted both to the association Kav LaOved that has been working for decades to protect the workers who are in a fragile situation, and to the little brother Yohanan Elihai, the linguist and lyricist, who contributed for five decades to bringing people together by teaching Arabic and writing textbooks and dictionaries of the spoken Palestinian Arabic. Brother Yohanan Elihai is one of the founders of the Hebrew speaking Catholic communities in Israel and he continues to be an active member of the Jerusalem community. We congratulate him heartfully and we thank God for his tremendous contribution both to our communities and to the Israeli society.
